GAMBANG: In yet another of its milestone, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has upgraded its information system infrastructure.
UMP Vice Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said the project to upgrade its systems to Oracle Database 11gR2 and Oracle Real ApplicationCluster (RAC) was to ensure prompt and reliable delivery of critical campus services while stabilising and easing workload.
“As a result, we are able to increase efficiencies that bring benefit to our students and staff so they can focus more on their core competencies,” he said, adding that it was in line with UMP’s target of increasing their information infrastructure services uptime to 99.5%.
He said the system is also equipped with the technology to duplicate data in real time, ensuring the security of the university’s vital information.
The success of this project can be seen as a positive response towards driving the university to have a competitive advantage as part of their 2011 to 2015 strategic plan.
Though the cost is huge, it is a worthwhile investment, said Daing Nasirat at the launch of the upgrade here recently.
