MPM-UMK Jointly Organise STPM Visual Arts Exhibition 2010

Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (FTKW), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK)

and the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM) for the first time jointly organised Malaysian

Higher School Certificate (STPM) Visual Arts Exhibition 2010 from 25 July 2010 to

5 August 2010.

Acting Head of Design & Creative Technology FTKW, Ahamad Tarmizi bin Azizan said

the STPM Visual Arts Exhibition 2010 highlighted the art works of STPM candidates

around the country from different areas of the visual arts such as batik, weaving,

sculpture, pottery, painting and design industry.

"A total of 80 selected works will be exhibited during the two weeks of this exhibition.

Similar exhibition has been hosted by the MPM in collaboration with

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in the past 1 to 30 April 2010," he said.

He added, STPM Visual Art Exhibition 2010 with the theme of `Making Visual Arts

Enterprise' was held at the UMK Temporary Campus in Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu,

Kelantan.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Minister of International Trade and Industry,

Dato’ Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed on 1 August 2010.


"This exhibition aims to provide exposure and guidance to the STPM and FTKW’s

visual arts students in improving the presentation of other products and also provide the

opportunities for teachers and lecturers to make a referral for counseling, monitoring and

evaluation on a variety of visual arts and creative industries," he said.

He added, STPM Visual Art Exhibition 2010 also provides exposure to the community, parents,

teachers, STPM candidates and UMK staff particularly in developing talent and ideas in

visual arts and creative industry in the country.
"We also intend to promote UMK as an Entrepreneurship University to the public through

STPM Visual Art Exhibition 2010," he said.
