Unirazak produces IT wizards
UNIVERSITI Tun Abdul Razak (Unirazak) was established on Dec 18 1997 as one of the first private universities in Malaysia. Named after Malaysia's second Prime Minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, the university is committed to becoming a principal centre of education in innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship.
The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) was established to meet the increasing demand for qualified and capable information technology (IT) personnel in the growing IT industry.
Reports on the regional trends in human capital requirements for the IT industry in Malaysia indicate that there is an acute shortage of personnel especially in areas such as systems and software development computer forensics and investigation and information security management.
Also FIT recognises the tremendous growth of e-business applications and online transactions as well as the fast adoption of wireless communication devices as part of daily gadgets.
The common things that need to go along with all these are information security protection, cryptography and internet security technology to protect users privacy.
Computer security threats and the acts for prevention are now becoming a concern not only by organisations but also individuals.
In response, FIT offers a multitude of relevant undergraduate IT programmes to cater fort different needs of the IT industry.
It is the interest of FIT to produce graduates with substance and first-hand information from computer experts who are either qualified lecturers or long serving industrial experts. Programmes are developed with collaborative input from industrial experts of reputable government or corporate agencies and relevant stakeholders.
The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) programme provides an advanced course structure and industrial-related specialisations in Computer Forensics, Information Science, Computer Networking, Multimedia, Medical Informatics and Software Engineering.
What is unique about Unirazak's BIT programme is that the body of knowledge delivered is a blend between academic essentialities and industrial practices.
The blend enables students to expose themselves to scientific information technologies and information methodologies, and learn how they are applied to solve real world IT industry problems. When complete, graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to embark into a successful IT career or become IT entrepreneurs.
At Unirazak, FIT aims to produce quality graduates in IT disciplines through various programmes from diplomas to a PhD degree.
At the undergraduate level, FIT offers Diploma in Information Technology, Diploma in Computer Security, Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Computer Security, Bachelor of Information Systems, Bachelor of Science Accounting Information Systems and Bachelor of Software Engineering.
